Jose Candia is a Canadian artist, born in Argentina. He studied painting and design in his native city of Tandil. In the seventies he pursued a career in Engineering, receiving a degree in Surveying. By the end of that decade he moved to the GTA (Great Toronto Area) and now resides in Mississauga, Ontario. Since then he has been exhibiting his works around United States and Canada.
In his paintings he presents a broad thematic versatility brought to life in the colours, lights and shadows.
In the 17th century, there was an eruption in the art world of master painters in the Low Countries of Europe, was call “The Golden Era”. The legacy of hundreds of prodigies and thousands of masterworks has been a portal for us; showing the modern world the atmosphere of their day – from architecture to décor, to the intimate details of their everyday utensils. A world of information captured in each image, granting us witness to a down-memory-lane era.
These magnificent works are the foundation for new conceptions. We have a treasure-trove of memorabilia before us; to reach for, perhaps to grasp…ultimately, to write original verses of understanding. This is my goal: to brush together concepts, elements, essentially data of the past and transform the privilege of that information into art made today.
